Rev Michael Parker will give a tour and explain the history of the church and it’s connection with St Gallen in Switzerland. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLeanne Briggs will give a talk on Gall who was one of Columbanus’ closest companions. She will describe his life as a monk in Bangor before leaving with 11 other disciples and Columbanus in 590AD for Europe on a pilgrimage for Christ. SUMMARY:Gall Lecture: An Irish Treasure Chest on the Continent 
DESCRIPTION:Dr Cornel Dora\, director of the Abbey Library\, St Gallen\, Switzerland\, will give a lecture on the incredible collection of manuscripts and writings\, many of which are attributed to Bangor and Nendrum Monastic Site on Mahee Island\, that are kept in the magnificent Abbey Library. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSt Gallen Library\n\n\n\nFrom 1993 to 2001 Dr Cornel Dora worked as a librarian in the Abbey Library of St. Gallen. From 2001 to 2013 he was director of the Kantonsbibliothek Vadiana\, the state library of St. Gallen. Since 2013 he has been the director of the Abbey Library of St. Gallen.  His scholarly interests include cultural and ecclesiastical history as well as the history of books and libraries. \n\n\n\nSt Gall Priscian\n\n\n\nAmong the collections holding Irish manuscripts\, the Abbey Library of St Gall stands out. SUMMARY:Stained Glass Windows Talk
DESCRIPTION:An illuminating talk by Ronnie McClements from Bangor Historical Society about the beautiful stained-glass windows \n\n\n\nThe pelican window\n\n\n\nSt Columbanus Church\, Ballyholme\, is architecturally rich\, being built from a unique stone taken from Roxborough Castle in Moy\, Co Tyrone. There is a wonderful collection of stained glass windows representing Irish Saints: Columbanus\, Columba\, Finnian\, Comgall\, Gall\, Patrick\, Brigid and Brendan. DESCRIPTION:A cross-community church service with guest speaker Fr Martin Magill the parish priest at St John the Evangelist on the Fall’s Road\, Belfast.  \n\n\n\nFr Magill’s speech at the funeral of murdered journalist Lyra McKee at St Anne’s Cathedral on 24 April 2019\, received sustained applause and a standing ovation when he asked why it took her death to unite politicians.
