Dear Friend of Columbanus Bangor
A couple of months ago we were approached by a Myshall Community Group in Co Carlow who are involved with developing the Columban Way. They asked if we would partner with them to apply for a grant from the Irish government to organise a programme of events in our respective areas. The funding application was successful and by working together, we produced a programme for Bangor on 24 and 25 September and for Carlow on Saturday 8 October.
Please find attached further information. All the activities are free but you need to book your place(s) as soon as possible via the Event Pages:
- 24-25th September Bangor
- 8th October Carlow
Finding Columbanus Event Page
Please note that there are only 24 places for the Copeland Island Boat Trip on Saturday 24 September, and 30 places for the guided Columban Way Walk on Sunday 25 September.
If you are interested in attending the Carlow programme, you can either make your own way there by car or train or if there are enough people, I will check the cost of hiring a coach. Accommodation for a double room for two nights in the 4 star Seven Oaks Hotel in Carlow, including breakfast and one evening meal, is currently €225.00 per person sharing.
I hope that you will be able to support us in this initiative by attending some or all of the programme planned. We will be welcoming a group from Carlow during the Bangor weekend and the FoCB events committee would be delighted if you could help us to welcome them to Bangor City.
We are also organising the annual Columbanus Festival which will be held in Bangor during the weekend of 19/20 November. More information on the Festival will follow.
If you have any queries, please call the lead organiser for this event, Vice-Chair David Lennon or email info@friendsofcolumbanusbangor.co.uk
Kind regards
Deborah Girvan
