CW Walk for Peace, Healing and Wellbeing – Day 2

Borris to Nine Stones to Myshall ( 20Km)

Ringing the Bell

Today the walk continued along feeder route from Bunclody and Borris to ascend high on Mount Leinster (2000 feet) to meet at the sculpture marking the start of the Irish Columban Way.

The Borris group ascend towards Mount Leinster
Foreground: the bells which will be carried and rung along the walk.
Back: the Bell / Cell sculpture mark the start of the walk

The bell is located at Nine Stones and popular stop for walker and day trippers which today included a Polish Motorcycle Club on their annual tour!

Derry Healy welcomed the walkers, explained the significance of bells for Columbanus and his companions and then each member of the group rang the small bell to share in marking the formal start of our walk.

A off road section was a highlight of the descent

After lunch the walk continued downhill with great views over Co Carlow toward the beautiful and historic village of Myshall.

The route entered Myshall passing the Church of Ireland Adelaide Church- a beautiful building which is treasured and supported by the whole of the Myshall community.
