Carlow proudly hosts the XXVI Columbanus Day celebration from July 11th to 13th, 2025. This significant occasion honours St. Columbanus, one of Ireland’s most influential early missionaries, recognised for his contributions to the spiritual and cultural foundation of Europe. Columbanus was born in Carlow, in the shadow of the Blackstairs Mountains.

It is a 3 day event and will include walks, talks and ecumenical services.
This is a three day event including walks, talks, cultural events and ecumenical services. The talks will include “Columbanus, the Man from Myshall,” delivered by former President Mary McAleese and a symposium on the theme of relationship between creation and spirituality. The walk will feature the first selection of the Irish Columban Way starting at a cairns on the slopes of Mount Leinster.
Car sharing will be organised for those attending from Friends of Columbanus Bangor.
